Originally hailing from northern Illinois, Stephanie joins the Healthy Active Places Team from beautiful southeast Alaska where she leads day bike tours in the Tongass National Forest and down the White Pass.
Stephanie studied Resource Management and Environmental Education at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. Along with riding her bike, her passion is conservation. Stephanie is lucky to travel all over the United States working on restoration ecology, bike safety, traveling tourism, and guiding.
Her latest adventure includes reclaiming her stolen Trek 520, on which she traveled from Key West to San Francisco as part of the Ride America for Safe Routes Team. “After a month of determination, perseverance, and pure dumb luck I was able to get back my Bug Scuddle Flea from the thief that grew a conscience.” Stephanie recounts. (In reality, lots of ‘have you seen this bike? I rode it across the country!’ signs actually worked on the guilt-laden thief!) “I travel everywhere with my Bug Scuddle Flea and I cannot wait to tour with her in the central valley of California.”
When not riding her bike Stephanie also enjoys cooking, swimming, hanging out with her dog, reading a good novel, and winning cribbage. When asked about her ultimate bike tour she says, “I dream to someday ride my bike around the Great Lakes and down in Patagonia South America.”
